Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida seeks a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to support the IR suite, scrub and monitor procedures, and ensure safety and accuracy in imaging. You will work with a diverse team to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include RT(R) certification, BLS, and 1+ year in IR; willingness to learn new techniques and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires on-site work in Zephyrhills, FL.

Qualifications

• Registered Radiology Technologist RT(R)(ARRT) required
• BLS/CPR certification required
• 1+ year of interventional radiology training/experience preferred
• Scrubbing and monitoring cases experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist physician with sterile procedures and equipment
• Maintain aseptic techniques and radiation safety
• Ensure accurate patient and exam identification before imaging
• Position patients and adjust exposure factors for imaging quality
• Input charges and manage department workflow
• Promote department quality improvements and patient satisfaction

Job Description

• Shift : 8:30am-5pm
• Assists physician with sterile procedures, anticipates their needs and utilizes knowledge of all necessary equipment and supplies.
• Ensures aseptic techniques are observed.
• Removes sheaths and holds arterial pressure until hemostasis.
• Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam.
• Confirms proper exam/patient before releasing images to PACS.
• Utilizes proper positioning criteria and technical exposure factors.
• Ensures study has correct patient demographics and RT/LT annotation when post processing.
• Assists healthcare team.
• Handles various job tasks simultaneously.Works to improve productivity by maintaining IR Suite ready status by preparing the Suite and equipment for the next procedure.
• Inputs procedural charges into the computer system.
• Applies appropriate use of PPE: follows the OSHA/Florida Hospital Infection Control policies for handling blood or body substances, waste disposal for biohazardous and non-biohazardous waste and keeps a safe environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
• Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner.
• Properly wears Dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure.
• Performs a full range of IR procedures.
• Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics).
• The knowledge and skills are acquired through formal training, in-service, continuing education and/or experience.
• Willing to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of co-workers and students.
• Addresses patient needs, questions and anxieties.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives while understanding the department performance trends and established standards.
• Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.
• Attends department meetings consistently and promotes positive dialogue with respect to department objectives.
• Listens and is responsible to understand all agenda items.
• Takes call as rotated/assigned and responds (in hospital) within 30 minutes.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

• Knowledge of procedure-specific equipment (EKOS, AngioJet, etc.) [Required]
• Knowledge of fluoroscopic equipment (Siemens Zeego) [Required]
• Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Interventional Radiology [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ interventional radiology training/experience [Required]
• Experience as an IR Technologist and/or formal IR training (scrubbing and monitoring cases) [Preferred]
• Experience with emergency on-call situations [Preferred]
• Procedure experience: TACE, TIPS, Fistula declot, trans jugular liver biopsy, Nephrostomy tube placement, IVC filter placement, Thrombolysis, Embolization’s, Dialysis Catheter placement, Thrombectomy, Stenting and ballooning, groin management [Preferred]
