Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform overnight CT and radiographic exams, ensuring safety, quality images and timely patient care. The role requires ARRT certification, CPR, and strong patient communication.

Responsibilities include imaging, documentation in EMR/PACS, equipment checks, and collaboration with radiologists to support continuous patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Technologist – Radiography (RT(R) (ARRT)) is required.
  • BLS (CPR) certification required.
  • Experience in radiology, CT and XR imaging preferred.
  • Strong communication and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to operate imaging equipment safely and adhere to ALARA.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overnight CT and radiographic examinations ensuring high image quality.
  • Maintain detailed documentation in EMR and PACS.
  • Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure equipment safety checks.
  • Educate patients about exams and minimize downtime between procedures.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.

Job Description:
  • Shift: Overnight shift 7pm to 7am Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • Sign on bonus for eligible candidates
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks
  • . Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications.
  • Performs high-quality CT and Radiographic examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and document information accurately.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during stressful and/or emotionally charged situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to be highly detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a patient-centric approach.
  • Basic hands-on computer knowledge and MSOffice applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Cerner and/or Epic is an asset.
  • Ability to learn and use Radiology software packages, scanners and workstations, and EMR.
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures.
  • Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff.
  • Ability to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet ED/Observation TAT goals.
  • Ability to assess, start and confirm appropriate placement of IV’s for use in CT studies.
  • The ability to assess, explain and perform CT and XR studies on patients of all ages.
  • Ability to learn and complete Reconstructions/Post processing.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English.
  • Past Reconstruction/Post processing skills preferred.
  • Ability to learn and complete Cardiac CTA reconstructions preferred.
Education:
  • Associate [Preferred]
  • Bachelor's [Preferred]
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ year of radiologic experience [Required]
Additional Information:
  • Preferred qualification for state of employment will be required.
