Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking a rotating shift, PRN, Radiology Special Procedures Technician in Montclair, NJ. The role supports interventional radiology procedures under Radiologist/Vascular Surgeon supervision, employing RIS, PACS, and standard radiology equipment.

The ideal candidate holds a NJ Diagnostic Radiology License, ARRT certification, and BLS, with 2+ years as Radiology Technician and experience in interventional/cath lab preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Radiology Technician.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
• NJ Diagnostic Radiology License.
• ARRT Certification.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physician during interventional radiological procedures.
• Provide assistance to Physicians, other Radiology Technicians, and Registered Nurses in more complex procedures.
• Coordinate daily activities within the Interventional Radiology Department.
• Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures per approved technique and ALARA limits.
• Position the patient and adjust equipment for optimal views as requested by the physician.
• Work independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
• Perform interventional procedures under Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon direction for all patient populations.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques and equipment.
• Practice radiation safety and protection principles.
• Demonstrate use of radiographic equipment and RIS/PACS and hospital computer systems.
• Utilize time productively to improve department efficiency.

Responsibilities

• The Special Procedures Tech is responsible for assisting the Physician during interventional radiological procedures.
• Provides assistance to Physicians, other Radiology Technicians, and Registered Nurses in the performance of more complex procedures.
• Coordinates the daily activities within the Interventional Radiology Department.
• Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with approved technique and the ALARA limits.
• Positions the patient on the examining table and sets up and adjusts equipment to obtain an optimum view of the specific body area as requested by the physician.
• Functions to work independently and in a cooperative manner in teamwork teamwork-oriented atmosphere within the department and hospital-wide.
• Explains procedures to the patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
• Under the direction of a Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon, performs all Interventional procedures on all patient populations.
• Prepares and maintains a sterile environment by using aseptic techniques, drapes, equipment, and solutions while assisting the interventional radiologist.
• Practices established principles of radiation safety and protection.
• Demonstrates appropriate and effective use of all radiographic equipment and computer systems such as RIS, PACS, and other hospital-based computer or PC systems.
• Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Radiology Technician.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
• NJ Diagnostic Radiology License.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience in Interventional or Cath lab.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
