Job summary

U.S. Urology Partners is seeking a friendly, patient-centered receptionist to serve as the first point of contact in a medical office setting.

You will greet patients, manage calls, schedule visits using the EMR, and verify insurance information with meticulous accuracy. Responsibilities include coordinating with hospitals for surgical timing, obtaining preauthorizations, and ensuring all paperwork is scanned and filed in the patient record.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in medical office setting preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience working in a business office.
  • Previous experience with multi-phone lines.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret written/oral instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills and EMR knowledge.

Responsibilities

Job description

What You’ll Be Doing

Serve as the first point of contact for patients at our practice. Greet patients warmly & provide courteous service both in office and over the phone. Use sound judgment in handling calls, especially when dealing with highly sensitive medical information. Complies with HIPPA policies and standards with regards to patient confidentiality. Use the EMR system to match physician availability with the patient's needs and preferences in terms of date and time. Able to accurately schedule appointments based on clinic and practice guidelines and specifications. When scheduling patients, be sure to add and update demographics and insurance information for patients thoroughly & accurately. Coordinate surgical schedule with the hospital. Confirm, cancel, reschedule and update patient appointments at request of the patient or the provider. Work with the insurance company to obtain pre authorization for medical procedure and communicate with the customer regarding the amount that they are responsible for. Collect any amount due by the patient prior to the procedure. Prepare patient charts for the day's procedures in advance. To consist of arm band and all forms required for pre, intra and post-op. Check the patient in for their procedure when they arrive at the office. Go over the paperwork and obtain a copy of the insurance card. Schedule their follow-up appointment. Notify the medical assistant that they are ready to be called back. Ensure that all procedural paperwork for the day has been scanned into the patient's medical record and properly filed. Address patient concerns efficiently and effectively. Use customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly. Communicates as needed with physicians and other staff about any patient concerns. Consults with the office manager about any system or administrative issues. Effectively communicate and complete requests from other medical offices (faxing patient medical records, or other information as requested). What We Expect from You


  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent

  • Organizational skills training preferred

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Salary Range

Please note that the hourly range for this position will vary based on experience level, education and geographical location. $17.50 - $25.27 / hour
