Job summary

Bland Landscaping Company is seeking a Lawn Technician / Spray Technician to perform hands-on duties in Grounds Management. You will be responsible for maintaining safety practices, communicating effectively with management, and applying pesticides and fertilizers as needed.

The ideal candidate must possess a valid FL Driver's license and be willing to obtain a Pesticide Applicator's license. This position offers competitive pay, health insurance, 401K match, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Must have valid FL Driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Job description

Lawn Technician / Spray Technician

The Spray Technician is hands‑on position in Grounds Management that performs IPM functions, planning, administrative and regulatory functions. Other duties are directed by the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

• Always maintain proper environmental and public safety practices.
• Maintain Chemical Storage area in a clean and organized manner.
• Daily communication with Production Manager, Assistant Managers and Branch Manager regarding concerns or pest problems.
• Attend and participate in crew and department general and safety meetings.
• Safe driving of company owned vehicles trucks (with or without trailers).
• Perform current IPM Practices and procedures as stated in the company program.
• Mix pesticides, and fertilizers for application.
• Operating safely vehicle, mechanized Devices, and Equipment.
• Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas.
• Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated areas.
• Able to pass federal and state training.
• Perform any other work as assigned by the Landscape Superintendent and/or Director of Horticulture.
• Maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude with internal and external clients.
• Troubleshooting and resolving fertilization or pest issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work independently, follow directions, and have good attendance.
• Able to lift/pull/push up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis.
• Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns and other environmental risks.
• Must wear sturdy shoes, company uniforms, and assigned PPE.
• Must be able to work outside sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
• Must present yourself in a professional, polite manner.
• Must practice safety with chemicals and equipment.
• Must wear company-provided eye and ear protection as required.
• Must have valid FL Driver's license and maintain a good driving record (CDL preferred).
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be willing to obtain FL Pesticide applicators license.
• Must have good communication skills and ability to motivate others.
• Must comply with Bland's policies and procedures.
