Job summary

Sterne Kessler is seeking a Technical Specialist in the Electronics Group in Washington, D.C. Hybrid work with normal in-office days. Mentors provided and study for the Patent Bar within 1–2 years; upon passing, you become a practicing Patent Agent.

Requires a Master’s in EE or CE (or related) and interest in applying research to IP law. Knowledge of 5G/IoT/RF and semiconductors is preferred; relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Master’s in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering is required.
• Interest in applying scientific research to IP and patent law.
• Willingness to study and sit for the Patent Bar within 1–2 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform research into developing and emerging technologies.
• Prepare written and oral reports to attorneys and/or patent agents.
• Assist and prepare patent applications and related filings.
• Interact with inventors to obtain disclosures.
• Maintain and organize prosecution files.
• Assist with prosecution of foreign patent applications with letters to foreign associates.
• Maintain and monitor docket of work due dates.
