Sterne Kessler is seeking a Technical Specialist in the Electronics Group for our Washington, D.C. office. The role emphasizes developing and evaluating emerging technologies and supporting patent filings.

You will work with attorneys and patent agents under two formal mentors and aim to sit the Patent Bar within 1–2 years. Relocation reimbursement is available, with a hybrid working pattern and regular in-office days.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical/computer engineering is required.
• Demonstrated interest in applying science to IP and patent law.
• PhD preferred for advanced research credentials.

Responsibilities

• Perform research into developing and emerging technologies.
• Prepare written and oral reports to attorneys and patent agents.
• Assist and prepare patent applications and related filings.
• Interact with inventors to obtain disclosures.
• Maintain and organize prosecution files.
• Assist with foreign patent filings and correspondence.
• Maintain and monitor docket of due dates.
