Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a patent-focused computer science professional to evaluate novelty and patentability of AI, ML, and computer architecture inventions. You will interview inventors, coordinate with OGC, and help draft patent applications with precise claims and drawings.

The role requires independent work, strong writing and analytical skills, and deep knowledge of patent law. A TS/SCI clearance is required, with the position based in the United States.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's, or 3 years with a Master's, or no years with a PhD.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more: computer architecture, AI, ML, DL, CV, software engineering.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Knowledge of Patent Laws, MPEP, and USPTO regulations; TS/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patent searches to assess novelty and patentability of computer architecture, AI, and related CS/CE inventions.
• Interview inventors to capture all required aspects for ORTA submissions and patenting recommendations.
• Collaborate with inventors and OGC to develop patent prosecution strategy.
• Prepare patent applications with drafted specifications, drawings, and claims.
• Ensure technical accuracy of subject matter in patent applications.
• Provide technical and legal research to support NGA submissions before the USPTO.
• Assist OGC with responses to USPTO actions and docket management.
• Maintain records and ensure procedures are followed for document formatting and standards.
• Interpret and enforce documentation formatting, standards, policies, and operating procedures.
