Optimum in Plano, TX is seeking a seasoned IP Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-capacity networks. You will focus on IP routing, MPLS, QoS, and scalable architectures across regions, with IOS-XR and IOS devices.

Collaboration with teams to deliver reliable, low-latency services and documentation for deployment and support. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, CCNP (CCIE+ preferred), and ISP experience, with strong routing, IPv4/IPv6, and scripting skills for

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2+ years of related experience.
CCNP required or equivalent; CCIE+ preferred.
Experience in Service Provider/ISP environments.
Experience with BGP/OSPF/ISIS, MPLS-TE, L2VPN/L3VPN.
Experience with IPv4 and IPv6.
Experience writing engineering guidelines and procedures.
Familiar with fiber optics and transport networks; scripting encouraged (Bash, Python).

Responsibilities

Develops network designs for IP Backbone architectures (BGP, OSPF, RSVP, LDP, QoS).
Creates test plans and validates functionality for metro, regional, and backbone networks.
Tests for IP services (internet, VPN, VoIP, video) over IP/MPLS networks.
Determines code functionality for routers and switches across vendors.
Performs equipment evaluations and pilot testing for reliability and scale.
Supports deployments with adherence to SLAs and change management.
Coordinates with regions to exceed market demand and growth.
