Job summary

Optimum in Lake Havasu City, AZ is seeking a highly skilled IP Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced networks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IP routing, MPLS, and ensuring reliability, scalability, and low latency across regional networks. You will collaborate with teams to evaluate new equipment, support 24x7 operations, and document procedures for production networks. CCNP is required; CCIE plus is a plus. IOS-XR/IOS experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of related experience.
• CCNP required or equivalent; CCIE is a plus.
• Experience working in a Service Provider / ISP environment supporting commercial or enterprise services.
• Experience with routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, ISIS).
• Experience with MPLS-TE, L2VPN, L3VPN, and traffic engineering concepts.
• Experience with IPv4 and IPv6.
• Experience writing Engineering guidelines and procedures.
• Familiarity with fiber optic technology and transport networks.
• Scripting languages recommended (BASH, Python, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering activities with knowledge of IP routing, MPLS-TE, and QoS.
• Develops and executes detailed network designs for IP Backbone architectures.
• Creates test plans and validates functionality for metro, regional, and backbone IP networks.
• Designs and tests IP service integration (internet, VPN, VoIP, video) over IP/MPLS.
• Coordinates deployments and ensures SLA adherence across regions.
• Works with NOC as escalation for critical incidents and outages.
• Documents procedures and guidelines to support installation, maintenance, and removal of equipment.
