Job summary

Vanguard-IP in Chicago seeks a biotechnology patent attorney with strong prior experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications for biologics and large-molecule technologies.

The successful candidate will conduct IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate analyses, and landscape assessments, register to practice before the USPTO, and provide exemplary client service with rigorous writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Biotech patent experience required.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in biologics/large-molecule tech.
• Freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement and patent landscape analyses.
• USPTO registration in good standing.
• Attorneys must be admitted to at least one State bar where the firm has an office.
• Prior law firm experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities.

REQUIREMENTS

• Prior patent experience in biotechnology.


• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, etc. Superior academic credentials.


• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.


• Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.


• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.


• Attorneys must be admitted to at least one State bar where the firm has an office.


• Prior law firm experience required.


• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.


• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


• A collaborative approach, sound judgment, and a commitment to exceptional client service.
