Job summary

UC Santa Barbara is seeking an Intellectual Property Officer 2 or 3 to support the Office of Technology & Industry Alliances. The role will manage patent prosecution for UCSB’s portfolio and oversee licensing agreements, with hybrid on-campus and off-campus work.

Requires strong IP knowledge and contract experience. Remote flexibility exists within a hybrid model; salary ranges from $100,000 to $175,000 annually, depending on classification and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific/STEM Field.
• For IP OFCR 2: 0–2 years of tech transfer experience.
• For IP OFCR 3: 2–4 years of tech transfer experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent prosecution for UCSB portfolio of inventions.
• Monitor licensing agreements and licensee compliance.
• Oversee budgeting for patent prosecution and related expenses.
• Negotiate and oversee licensing agreements for assigned technologies.
