Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking an Associate Counsel/Counsel in Intellectual Property to provide strategic legal guidance on IP matters arising from content production, brand development, and global expansion initiatives. This role focuses on supporting the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to protect NBCUniversal’s IP assets worldwide.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in trademark or IP field, at a law firm or comparable corporate setting.
• JD or LLM from an accredited law school.
• Must be a member in good standing of the California State Bar, or eligible to register as in-house counsel in California.

Responsibilities

• Advise and collaborate with creative, business and legal teams on trademark, copyright, domain name and related IP matters.
• Responsible for clearance of trademarks, titles, character names and other nomenclature for client businesses.
• Assist with prosecution and enforcement of trademarks and IP assets domestically and internationally.
• Analyze development, production and distribution agreements to advise on copyright and production rights.
• Conduct due diligence and advise on IP terms for licenses, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.
• Collaborate with IP colleagues across regions to protect NBCUniversal brands worldwide.
• Support the IP department to advance NBCUniversal's IP strategy.
