About the role

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, including the widely used Ubuntu platform. We are seeking an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services, focusing on solution architecture, design, and delivery.

Location

This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
2. Solve customer problems by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.
3. Manage the team remotely within a single major time zone.
4. Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
5. Identify and measure team health indicators.
6. Implement disciplined engineering processes.
7. Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
8. Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices.
9. Plan and manage progress on goals and projects.
10. Collaborate with other leaders as part of the leadership team.

Qualifications

1. Strong academic background from high school and university.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
3. Extensive experience with embedded Linux, Yocto, or similar.
4. Proficiency in Linux distributions like Debian or Ubuntu.
5. Fluency in at least one programming language among Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
6. Experience managing a small team.
7. Experience with customer engagements.
8. Professional proficiency in English.
9. Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.

Desirable Traits
