Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Scientist 2/3 to provide expertise and technical leadership in H+ and H- ion source technology, development and operation. The role includes design, construction and operation of RF-driven sources and accelerators, and oversight of test stands for the LAMP project.

The position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM, with a commitment period and opportunities to work at Scientist 2 or 3 level based on skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in design, construction and installation of ion sources and test facilities.
• Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding expectations of customers and stakeholders in a research organization.
• Excellent oral and written communication with internal and external collaborators and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct and operate RF-driven H- and H+ ion sources.
• Oversee test stands and experimental runs for LAMP modernization.
• Develop and lead proposals and projects in ion source technology.

Education

Bachelor's degree in STEM

Master's degree in STEM
