Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks a Scientist 2/3 to provide expertise, support, and technical leadership in H+ and H- ion beam physics, beamline development, optimization, operation, and diagnostics. This role is tied to the LANSCE Accelerator Modernization Project (LAMP) and includes oversight of several test stands.

The position may be filled at Scientist 2 or Scientist 3 level, depending on qualifications, with higher responsibilities if placed at the Scientist 3 level.

Qualifications

• Experience operating ion sources, ion source test facilities, and/or ion beam accelerator facilities.
• Experience using ion beam diagnostics.
• Strong oral and written communication with collaborators and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise and technical leadership in ion beam physics, beamline development, optimization, operation, and diagnostics.
• Oversee experimental activities and operation of test stands related to the LAMP project.
• Collaborate with computational scientists on ion beam dynamics and participate in new project proposals.
