Job summary

UMC Health System in Lubbock, TX seeks an IOM Technologist to perform intraoperative neuro-monitoring for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures. You will set up modalities, coordinate with anesthesia and surgeons, and document data in the Neuro-monitoring Lab systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, current EEG registry, ABRET registry, and at least one year of IONM experience. BLS certification is required, with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and current EEG ABRET registry are required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in intraoperative neuro-monitoring.
• ABRET EEG/EP registry is required (or equivalent).
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

Must demonstrate the ability to deviate from established protocols as needed.Job Specific ResponsibilitiesDaily assignments may include but are not limited to:• Set up modality necessary to monitor at risk structures• Equipment placement so that technologist can observe Anesthesia’s monitors along with surgeon out of the way• Communicate and coordinate with reading physician before and during all procedures• Maintain supplies• Navigate USMON- required to schedule data collection, physician chat, remote viewer for reading physician, and documentation• Store all patient documents used for procedure in the Neuro share drive• All other assigned duties related to AnesthesiaEducation and Experience• Bachelor’s degree + current registry in EEG• +1 year of experience in Intraoperative Neuro-monitoringRequired Licensures/Certifications/Registrations• Registry in EP by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic & Evoked Potential Technologies (ABRET)• Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS)Skills and Abilities• Evidence of competency in the following modalities: IONM, somatosensory evoked potentials, spontaneous and evoked electromyography, electroencephalography, and motor evoked potentials• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists• Ability to read and interpret instructions that may be furnished in written or oral diagram or scheduled form• High degree of proficiency in specialized EEG and/or evoked potential proceduresInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsAbility to interact cordially and effectively with all patients of the Neurophysiology Lab. This role will interact with department physicians, residents, anesthesia team, and OR staffPhysical CapabilitiesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. There are extended periods of time standing, sitting, or frequent walking. Visual acuity (computers, typing, reading, writing) is required for assigned duties.Environmental/Working ConditionsThis position is subject to indoor temperature changes.
