Job summary

Innisfree M&A Incorporated in New York City seeks an Investor Engagement Researcher to support governance and activist campaigns. You will help compile issuer and shareholder data, analyze voting policies, and assist in producing concise client reports.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of experience, excellent Excel and written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum one year of financial industry, research, or analytical experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with large datasets, formulas, sorting, and filtering.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in compiling reports of an issuer’s top shareholders using multiple sources.
  • Maintain and update client shareholder files throughout the year.
  • Produce summary reports regarding shareholder voting policies and patterns.
  • Research across multiple data sources and add relevant data to databases and spreadsheets.

Investor Engagement Researcher Overview

The firm seeks a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in corporate governance, shareholder activism, and corporate transactions. This role is well suited for candidates with 1-2 years of relevant experience, as well as recent graduates who have developed strong analytical, research, and communication skills through internships, coursework, or academic projects.

Candidates must have excellent Microsoft Excel skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate across different teams. They must also demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities
  • On an ongoing basis, assist in compiling reports of an issuer’s top shareholders using multiple sources.
  • Throughout the year, help maintain and update client shareholder files at the direction of Investor Engagement team members.
  • Conduct research and assist in producing summary reports regarding shareholder voting policies and patterns.
  • Research specific issues across multiple data sources and incorporate relevant data into new and historical databases and spreadsheets.
  • Create investor profiles and research investor contacts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of one year of financial industry, research, or analytical experience. Relevant internship experience, academic research, or project-based experience may also be considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and exceptional Excel skills, with the ability to work confidently with large datasets, formulas, sorting, and filtering.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively maintain databases, keep accurate to-do lists, and follow up with all internal and external requests.
  • Solid understanding of the stock market (knowledge of corporate governance issues and influencers is a plus).
  • Ability to research across multiple databases, historical and current.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects from multiple sources with a keen sense of prioritization.
  • Ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision in a highly autonomous work environment.
  • Must live a commutable distance to NYC.
  • U.S. employment authorization without current or future need for sponsorship.

While much of the work is done remotely, this hybrid position will require on-site presence, in-person training, and regular collaboration with other team members. In addition, employees may be asked to attend client meetings, in-person team-building exercises, and firm gatherings.

Compensation:

A base salary will be offered commensurate with a candidate’s prior experience and qualifications. Candidate will be eligible for the firm’s annual merit-based bonus program and will participate in its (currently) 100% employer-paid medical/dental/disability/life insurance plans and its discretionary profit-sharing 401(k) plan. Base Salary Range: $90,000-100,000.
