Job summary

Minnesota State Board of Investment invites applications for an Investment Analyst, Risk Management. The role supports enterprise-wide portfolio risk management and quantitative oversight of assets under SBI's management, monitoring risk across asset classes and informing allocation decisions.

You'll work with the Director of Risk Management and portfolio teams to deepen market understanding, refine reporting tools, and contribute to shaping long-term investment strategy in a collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, CS).
• Experience: 2+ years in investment analysis, risk/performance analytics, or portfolio analytics.
• Exposure to Python, R, SQL, PowerBI/Tableau.
• Pursuit of CFA, FRM, CIPM, CAIA encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support quantitative risk management oversight of the total investment portfolio across asset classes.
• Maintain and enhance investment data, spreadsheets, and tools for reporting and decision support.
• Assist in design, production, and enhancements of internal risk reports for staff and committees.
• Help automate data aggregation and transformation from custodians and managers with IT support.
• Support portfolio level analysis including asset allocation, rebalancing, what-if analysis, and stress-testing.
• Analyze liquidity and cash flow forecasts with private markets considerations.
• Contribute to FX hedging, passive management, and beta overlay oversight.
• Perform due diligence on external managers including exposure analysis and performance diagnostics.
• Participate in ongoing process and system improvements to align with best practices.
