Job summary

LHH partners with a private investment and family office platform in Austin to recruit an ambitious early-career finance professional. You will work directly with the founder and gain exposure to investing, business operations, strategic decision-making, acquisitions, and financial management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, consulting, valuation, or investment analysis.
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn continuously.
• Excellent communication skills with business leaders.
• Willingness to take ownership of diverse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with the founder to evaluate business performance across the portfolio.
• Analyze financial statements, cash flow, and key operating metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
• Support acquisitions, due diligence, and investment analysis.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling initiatives.
• Serve as a resource to portfolio company leadership on financial and operational performance.
• Maintain records and oversee day-to-day financial operations for select portfolio companies.
• Improve processes, reporting capabilities and internal controls as businesses grow.
• Prepare executive-level reporting and analysis for strategic decisions.
• Gain exposure to board discussions, investment strategy, and operations.

Our client is a private investment and family office platform with diverse holdings. Unlike a traditional analyst role, this position offers direct mentorship from the firm's founder and exposure to investing, business operations, strategic decision-making, acquisitions, and financial management.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious early-career professional who wants to learn how businesses are built, acquired, operated, and scaled. What You'll Do

• Work directly with the founder to evaluate business performance across a diverse investment portfolio
• Analyze financial statements, cash flow, and key operating metrics to identify opportunities and risks
• Support acquisitions, due diligence activities, and investment analysis
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling initiatives
• Serve as a trusted resource to portfolio company leadership teams on financial and operational performance
• Maintain accounting records and oversee day-to-day financial operations for select portfolio companies
• Improve processes, reporting capabilities, and internal controls as businesses grow
• Prepare executive-level reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Gain exposure to board-level discussions, investment strategy, and business operations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Approximately 2-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, consulting, valuation, investment analysis, or a similar analytical role
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong intellectual curiosity and desire to continuously learn
• Excellent communication skills and confidence interacting with business leaders
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of a wide variety of responsibilities

Preferred Experience

• Financial statement analysis and forecasting
• Accounting knowledge or exposure to GAAP principles
• Transaction, valuation, consulting, investment, or corporate finance experience
• Private equity, family office, startup, professional services, or entrepreneurial environments
• Experience improving processes and driving operational efficiencies
