Taylor Root is seeking a Legal Counsel for an investment management client in Chicago. The role focuses on commercial contracts, legal operations, and process management within a fast-paced legal team.

You will negotiate and manage a range of contracts, oversee lifecycle activities, and maintain contract systems while collaborating with stakeholders across the business. A JD with 2+ years of experience in investment management or related fields is preferred.

Qualifications

• JD with 2+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Background within investment management, financial services or a law firm preferred.
• Strong commercial contracting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
• Proactive, self-starting and willing to take ownership with a genuine “no task is too small” mindset.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commercially minded with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using technology, including AI tools, to work more effectively while applying appropriate judgment to outputs.

Responsabilités

• Review, negotiate and manage a range of commercial contracts
• Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, including execution, renewals and key term tracking
• Maintain and administer the firm’s contract management systems and processes
• Support entity management, tracking and reporting
• Help improve legal processes, workflows and documentation
• Partner with Legal & Compliance colleagues on broader projects and initiatives across the firm
• Take ownership of both substantive legal matters and the administrative and process-driven work required to support the team
