Job summary

Connect Search, LLC is recruiting a Contracts Counsel for an investment management firm with offices in Chicago or New York City. The role is hands-on in-house and focuses on owning commercial contracting, including data, software licensing, and vendor agreements.

You will leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate review and drafting, oversee the CLM system, and collaborate with business units to balance legal and practical considerations. Office presence is required.

Qualifications

• JD required and bar admission preferred.
• Hands-on experience using AI/automation tools in contract work.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills.
• Financial services or investment management exposure preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with sharp attention to detail.

Contracts Counsel | Investment Management | Chicago or NYC

Our client, an investment management firm, is hiring a Contracts Counsel to own commercial contracting for the business. This is a hands‑on in‑house role for an attorney who already uses AI and automation tools in their work.

What you'll do

• Lead the drafting and negotiation of commercial and vendor contracts, including research, data, software licensing, telecom, consulting and hardware
• Use AI-enabled legal and contract‑management tools to speed up review, drafting, negotiation and workflow, with attorney oversight
• Administer the contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and track contract terms and renewals
• Balance legal and practical business considerations while working with teams across the firm
• Handle day‑to‑day legal inquiries from business units
• Support legal operations and special projects as needed

What you bring

• JD
• Hands‑on experience using AI and automation tools in contract work (required)
• Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills
• Financial services, investment management or law firm experience preferred
• Sharp judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
