Job summary
Northern Trust is seeking an experienced Investment Grade Bond Trader to join its Fixed Income Trading team in the Chicago area. The role blends technology, markets, and portfolio implementation to deliver liquidity, efficient execution, and strong investment outcomes across client portfolios.
The successful candidate will challenge conventions, leverage dealer relationships and data-driven insights to improve trading edge and portfolio construction.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of Investment Grade credit trading experience.
- Strong understanding of IG credit markets, risk management and portfolio construction.
- Proven ability to source liquidity and deliver superior execution.
Responsibilities
- Execute primary and secondary IG bond transactions across sectors with liquidity and efficiency.
- Provide market insight and liquidity assessments to support decisions.
- Develop relationships with broker-dealers and counterparties to source opportunities.
- Collaborate with tech, operations and compliance to enhance trading platforms and workflows.
- Maintain knowledge of market structure, pricing methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
