About the Role
We are seeking an Investment associate to support the execution of project financings, financial planning and analysis, and project valuation across NextGrid's growing renewable energy portfolio. This role offers broad exposure to project finance, corporate finance, capital strategy, and portfolio management while partnering closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to support strategic financing decisions and the successful development of commercial solar and storage projects.
Responsibilities
Project Finance Execution
- Support the structuring, execution, and closing of project finance transactions, including debt, tax equity, and hybrid financing structures.
- Lead the preparation of financial analyses and transaction deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with financing terms.
- Coordinate transaction timelines, diligence materials, and information flow across internal teams and external counterparties.
- Lead construction loan draw submissions, including preparing lender deliverables, coordinating documentation, tracking funding requests, and monitoring financing milestones.
Investor, Lender, and Advisor Coordination
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for lenders, tax equity investors, and financial advisors during transaction execution for various deliverables.
- Coordinate third-party diligence efforts, including independent engineer, insurance, and market reports.
- Prepare investment memoranda, internal approval materials, and transaction summaries for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Financing Strategy and Commercial Analysis
- Partner with Development, Legal, Engineering, and Operations to assess the financial implications of Power Purchase Agreements, leases, EPC contracts, and other commercial arrangements.
- Provide analytical support on financing strategy, capital structuring, and portfolio- and corporate-level capital planning.
- Evaluate the impact of market conditions, incentive programs, and regulatory developments on project economics and financing structures.
Financial Modeling and Analysis
- Develop, maintain, and enhance detailed project-level, portfolio-level, and corporate financial models.
- Perform sensitivity analyses, downside cases, and scenario modeling across individual projects and the consolidated company.
- Review and validate model outputs to support financing decisions, project valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and other financial planning and analysis activities.
Post-Close and Portfolio Support
- Support post-close financing activities, including lender reporting, covenant compliance, and financing administration.
- Assist in monitoring portfolio performance and corporate liquidity, identifying financial risks and optimization opportunities over the life of the assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in project finance, renewable energy finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex financial models, financing workstreams, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong project finance and corporate financial modeling capabilities.
- Solid understanding of renewable energy financing structures and incentive frameworks applicable to solar and storage projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Experience in renewable energy finance.
- Familiarity with Power Purchase Agreements, EPC contracts, and related project agreements.
- Experience supporting construction financing, loan draw administration, or lender reporting.
