Gerald Group in Stamford, CT seeks an Investment Analyst to support evaluation, execution and management of investments, financing transactions and offtake opportunities across the global portfolio.

The role combines mining knowledge with strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills. It is a hands-on, principal investing position with travel to operations and exposure to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, Mineral Processing, Finance, Economics or another relevant discipline.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in mining investment banking, private equity, corporate development, equity research, project finance, consulting or mining operations.
• Strong financial modelling skills, including NAV and DCF valuation of mining or resource assets and experience building or reviewing life-of-mine models.
• Ability to read mining technical reports, resource and reserve statements, production schedules, recoveries, operating costs and capital expenditure, and to identify the key commercial and technical drivers of an investment.
• Ability to convert complex technical and financial information into concise written recommendations for senior management. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working independently across different cultures, jurisdictions and operating environments.

Responsibilities

• Investment Analysis and Financial Modelling: Build and review life-of-mine financial models covering production, costs, capex, working capital, taxation and cash flow.
• Perform NAV and DCF valuations for development-stage and operating assets, assess project economics (NPV, IRR, payback, funding) and downside cases.
• Run sensitivities across price decks, grade, recovery, production, operating costs and capex.
• Evaluate capital structures across debt, equity, prepayment, streaming, royalty and offtake financing.
• Due Diligence and Transaction Execution: Lead financial, commercial and technical diligence; support structuring and execution; prepare memoranda for leadership.
• Coordinate with traders, operators, consultants, financial institutions, legal advisers and other stakeholders.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor performance against budgets; support planning and performance-improvement initiatives; work with portfolio-company management.
• Market and Opportunity Assessment: Research commodity markets, projects, and industry trends; screen and originate investment opportunities; evaluate strategic fit with trading and BD teams.
