The Investment Analyst/Associate will join an experienced and entrepreneurial Investments Team that is making significant investments in companies with cost-effective technologies, solutions and business models for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from heavy-emitting sectors. This person will be working for our Houston-based growth equity investment team and will leverage a financial modelling skillset to assist with a wide range of investment activities including deal flow sourcing and assessment, thematic and market research, and financial and commercial due diligence for prospective investments.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate in and contribute to all aspects of the deal process, from origination to evaluation, diligence and execution.
- Lead all aspects of detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis to assist with deal evaluation and transaction management.
- Perform detailed sector and thematic research and analysis. Develop investment theses and identify corresponding investment opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Investments Team to conduct due diligence and prepare materials for investment committee.
- Support fundraising activities, including the generation of marketing materials.
- Manage stakeholder engagement activities and other events to help promote deal flow and support our LPs.
- Cooperate and coordinate with potential financial partners and co-investors.
- Coordinate portfolio reporting and quarterly valuations for our existing portfolio companies.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Relevant degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or sciences.
EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 1-2 years in investment banking, with relevant sector experience in energy or industrials. Note: While experience in private equity, venture capital, project finance, corporate finance, or management consulting is helpful, we are requiring a minimum 1-2 years in investment banking experience for this role.
- Experience in due diligence processes and reviewing financial and legal documentation.
- Strong performance track record.

- Ability to demonstrate a strong mix of commercial, financial and technical experience and aptitude.
- Strong commercial sense and ability to identify key risks.
- Significant expertise creating and presenting analyses and presentations with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Position is based in Houston, TX.
- Eligibility to live and work in the US is mandatory.
- We operate a hybrid working arrangement for all our office-based roles (currently Tuesday to Thursday in the downtown Houston office).
- Domestic and international travel will be required.
- CI’s offices and those of our portfolio companies are geographically diverse which may result in meetings/calls outside of “normal” business hours and a need to flex daily work schedule.
