Investment Anaylst
Richmond, Virginia or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Full-Time
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 + benefits & bonus
Heritage Wealth Advisors is seeking early-career investment professionals for our Investment Analyst Development Program, a structured 2–3 year experience designed to build a strong foundation across the full investment platform.
As an Investment Analyst, you’ll work alongside experienced investment professionals and gain hands‑on exposure to public and private market research, portfolio management, trading and implementation, investment reporting, and platform operations.
The program combines real investment responsibilities with structured training and mentorship. As your knowledge and capabilities grow, so will your responsibilities—providing an opportunity to develop the technical skills, investment judgment, and perspective that can serve as a foundation for a career in investing.
The Work
- Research public markets, contributing to analysis of securities, investment strategies, managers, and market trends while supporting due diligence and ongoing investment monitoring.
- Gain exposure to private investments, supporting manager research, due diligence, analysis, and monitoring of private market opportunities, including investments within the firm’s internally managed diversified pooled investment fund.
- Build portfolio management experience, supporting portfolio monitoring, rebalancing, cash management, trading, and implementation while developing an understanding of how investment decisions move from strategy into client portfolios.
- Analyze portfolios and performance, contributing to portfolio reporting, performance analysis, data reconciliation, and investment-related materials used by the investment team and advisors.
- Support sophisticated client portfolios, preparing portfolio analyses, investment materials, and other deliverables that help senior investment professionals serve families, foundations, and institutions.
- Learn the investment platform from the inside, developing proficiency with investment models, research resources, portfolio systems, databases, and the processes that keep investment information accurate and reliable.
- Contribute to investment projects, working on initiatives that advance the firm’s research, technology, reporting, investment processes, and broader platform capabilities.
- Build expertise through structured development, participating in training and mentorship while taking on increasingly complex responsibilities as your capabilities grow.
- Share what you learn, contributing to knowledge transfer and helping incoming Analysts develop as you progress through the program.
The Analyst We’re Looking For
- You’re genuinely curious about investing, with an interest in understanding markets, managers, strategies, and how portfolios are constructed.
- You think analytically, enjoying the process of working with data, evaluating information, identifying patterns, and developing thoughtful conclusions.
- You want broad exposure, with an interest in learning across public markets, private investments, portfolio management, trading, and investment operations rather than specializing too early.
- You embrace new technology, including AI-enabled tools, and look for ways to improve research, analysis, efficiency, and accuracy.
- You take ownership of the details, recognizing that accuracy, organization, and follow‑through matter when working with investment and portfolio information.
- You learn quickly, asking thoughtful questions, seeking feedback, and applying what you learn as your responsibilities increase.
- You collaborate naturally, bringing integrity, accountability, and intellectual curiosity to a team that learns and works together.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or a related field.
- Early-career candidates are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in investment management, financial services, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort organizing, analyzing, and manipulating financial and investment data.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Demonstrated interest in investing and financial markets, including public and private markets.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to quality.
- Advanced Excel capabilities and financial modeling experience are beneficial but not required.
The Development Experience
The Investment Analyst role is intentionally designed as a 2–3 year early-career development program.
Analysts receive structured training, ongoing mentorship, and broad exposure across the investment platform. Responsibility increases with experience and demonstrated capabilities, with later-stage Analysts also helping transfer knowledge and train incoming members of the program.
The program is designed to build a strong foundation for a career in investing rather than provide a predetermined path to a permanent senior investment position at Heritage. High-performing Analysts may be considered for future opportunities within the firm based on performance, capabilities, career interests, and business needs.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000, based on experience and capabilities, with additional bonus potential.
Heritage also offers:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance.
- 401(k) with profit sharing.
- Financial support for professional development, certifications, continuing education, and leadership development.
- Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
- A flexible and supportive work environment.
- Parental and family leave.
- Access to Heritage resources, internal expertise, professional networks, and thought leadership opportunities.
