The Investment Operations team is seeking a motivated intern to gain hands-on experience supporting essential account and investment operations. In this role, you will work with leading custodians, including Charles Schwab and Pershing, while gaining exposure to investment advisory services, operations, technology, and tax-related processes. As an Investment Advisory Services Intern, you will collaborate with experienced professionals, develop practical skills, and build a strong foundation for a future career in the financial services industry.

Job Summary:

The Investment Advisory Services Intern supports Financial Advisors and the Investment Advisory Services team through account servicing and issue resolution. Through hands-on training, the intern will learn how new accounts, money movements, and asset transfers are processed through our custodial partners while developing practical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and client service skills alongside experienced team members.

Essential Functions andResponsibilities:
  • Assist with special projects involving research and data updates while gaining exposure to regulatory, compliance, and operational workflows
  • Support new account setup and ongoing account maintenance, including asset transfers and money movements processed through custodial partners
  • Review custodial reports and notifications to identify issues, learn resolution workflows, and support follow-up under team guidance
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding new account and investment advisory requests, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Use Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics to manage daily tasks and workflows
  • Learn and utilize industry platforms, including Valmark’s MyCase, LaserApp, Schwab Advisor Center, and Pershing NetX360
  • Document detailed and accurate notes in CRM systems to support follow-up and team collaboration
  • Support daily follow-up on outstanding new account and investment advisory requests, escalating issues as needed
  • Support team members with research, issue resolution, and troubleshooting
  • Provide backup assistance to other team members as business needs arise
  • Perform additional duties and projects assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Availability to work onsite in Akron, OH:
    • 16-24 hours per week during spring and fall semester
    • 30-40 hours per week during summer months
