Current juniors or seniors pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance are encouraged to apply; CPA pursuit is preferred. The program emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and rapid professional growth in a growing insurance environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance with strong academic performance.
• Interest in the property & casualty insurance market and related accounting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; accurate and responsible work ethic.
• Ability to learn new processes and support senior staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily investment activity in the accounting tool (Clearwater).
• Prepare monthly investment reconciliations with custodian, Clearwater, and Workday.
• Post monthly investment journal entries on GAAP and statutory bases for six insurers.
• Assist coordination with banks and state departments for investment transactions.
• Maintain procedural documentation and perform ad hoc tasks as needed.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables

• Monitor daily investment activity within the investment accounting tool, Clearwater
• Monitor month-to-date investment activity within the investment accounting tool and corresponding market activity for the period and assist in summarizing information in the weekly portfolio overview
• Prepare monthly investment reconciliations, including custodian, Clearwater and Workday reconciliations
• Prepare and post monthly investment journal entries on a GAAP and statutory basis for six insurance companies
• Assist in the coordination amongst various banks and state insurance departments for necessary investment transactions and account maintenance
• Maintain procedural documentation for assigned responsibilities
• Other duties as assigned

Technical Knowledge and Understanding

• Strong academic performance, including completion of introductory accounting and/or finance courses and a basic understanding of accounting and finance principles
• Interested in learning more about and working in the property & casualty insurance market
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
• Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible

Experience

• Current junior or senior actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance, CPA pursuing preferred
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks
