The Child Welfare Investigative Specialist primarily investigates criminal conduct reports related to felony child abuse and/or neglect, which may have resulted in serious injury or death of a child. Responsibilities include conducting home visits, documenting interviews, testifying in court, and assisting staff with registries and databases. The role requires adherence to county-specific investigation protocols and involves independent decision-making under supervision.
Knowledge of: Arizona laws on special victims, forensics, homicide, domestic violence, and child abuse policies; Child and Family Advocacy Centers; investigative practices for sensitive cases.
Skills in: Public relations, interviewing children and families, investigative techniques, report writing, and working with diverse groups.
Abilities to: Conduct complex investigations, handle confidential information, testify in court, document investigations, and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In-state travel required.
Employment contingent upon passing background checks, obtaining a valid driver’s license, and acquiring a DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card. In-state travel and use of personal transportation may be required. All new hires must complete E-Verify.
Bi-Lingual Stipend of $500 annually for qualifying employees. Positions participate in the Arizona State Retirement System.
