Job summary

The State of Hawai'i Department of Human Services is seeking an Investigator IV to perform and supervise investigations of civil, administrative, and/or criminal violations. The role represents the journeyman level, with full responsibility for complex investigations and coordination with law enforcement and other agencies.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and 2.5 years of progressive investigative experience, plus the ability to present findings clearly.

Qualifications

• Legal Authorization to Work: US employment eligibility required for Hawaii government positions.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Specialized Experience: 2 1/2 years of professional investigative experience with demonstrated initiative and judgment.
• A. Initiative, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and judgment to collect, assemble, and develop facts.
• B. Ability to analyze and evaluate facts, evidence and related information to reach sound conclusions.
• C. Skill in written and oral reports and presentation of findings.
• D. Tact, discretion, and capacity for obtaining cooperation and confidence of others.
• Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory potential acceptable in lieu of actual supervision.
• Substitutions Allowed: Substitutions as described in Minimum Qualification Requirements apply.
• Driver's License: Valid driver's license at appointment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or supervise investigations involving civil, administrative and/or criminal violations.
• Independently determine case approach and gather supporting evidence.
• Prepare reports and coordinate with law enforcement and other agencies.
• Oversee investigations with broad scope and complex nature.
