Job summary

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a qualified Investigative Assistant District Attorney to conduct long-term investigations and trials within the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau. This role operates within the Investigations Division, collaborating with state, local, and federal agencies to pursue proactive investigations against firearms trafficking and violent crime in Bronx County.

Qualified candidates possess a NY JD and bar admission, extensive grand jury and trial experience,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and NY Bar in good standing.
• US citizenship and NY residency required on start date.
• 3+ years in long-term criminal investigations.
• Experience with confidential informants and cooperating witnesses.
• Experience drafting and reviewing warrants and orders (including 2703(d) orders).
• Significant grand jury experience.
• Trial experience in violent crime, gang prosecutions, gun violence and related conspiracies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficient in MS Word/Outlook/Excel.
• Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations.
• Organize and present grand jury presentations.
• Prosecute cases arising from investigations, including discovery obligations and drafting motions and responses.
• Engage in plea negotiations, conduct hearings and trials.
• Maintain current knowledge of investigative methods and applicable law.
• Analyze trends of gang violence and develop strategies for investigations and prosecutions.
• Participate in meetings between the DA’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.
• Communicate across organizational levels, internally and externally.
• Collaborate with the Crime Strategies Bureau and other bureaus to share intelligence.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Available nights, weekends and holidays.
