Job summary

Longmont Department of Public Safety seeks a Colorado-certified law enforcement professional to join the Detective Division in a part‑time, temporary, non‑benefitted role. You will support active investigations, case management, and evidence handling as a civilian staff member under the Detective Sergeant or Assistant Chief.

Responsibilities include pursuing leads, reviewing interviews, assisting with sex offender registration and missing person investigations, and providing real-time

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of prior experience as a certified law enforcement officer.
• Knowledge of Colorado criminal law and its application to investigations.
• Knowledge of investigation techniques and documentation standards.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes and Municipal Criminal Code.

Responsibilities

• Assist with criminal investigations involving crimes against persons, property, and society and document findings.
• Follow up with citizens, victims, and suspects under lead direction and develop investigative leads.
• Prepare thorough investigative documentation and review jail calls or texts as needed.
• Assist with sex offender registration, missing person/human trafficking investigations, and evidence management.
• Utilize RTIC tools, video surveillance, license plate recognition, and drones where applicable.
• Support legal proceedings by appearing in court and presenting evidence when required.
• Maintain confidentiality and perform duties in a civilian, non-enforcement capacity.
