Job summary

NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks an Investigator in the Investigations Unit of the Bureau of Examinations to determine candidate eligibility for City employment and to conduct thorough background investigations. The role includes interviewing candidates, recording findings in the PICTS system, and preparing detailed reports for supervision.

Strong communication, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information are essential.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma with 2 years of investigator experience.
• Associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college.
• Equivalent to above qualifications with four-year diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations to determine eligibility for City employment.
• Record information in mainframe and other data management systems (PICTS).
• Prepare narrative investigation reports and checklists for the Supervisor and the Director.
• Conduct face-to-face and virtual interviews.
• Interface with candidates, DCAS employees, other agencies (City, State, and Federal).
• Perform special assignments for the Senior Director of Investigations.
• Perform related work.
