Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking personnel to assist with issuing parts, maintaining inventories, and coordinating warehousing operations. The role supports loading/unloading, posting parts and labor, and assisting with special services such as office moves and deliveries.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least six months of related work experience, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds and working near traffic and environmental hazards.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Assists with issuing parts, equipment, and supplies, and maintains inventory records on hand.
• Operates two-way radio relaying and receiving messages from road crews to Repair Shop staff.
• Assists in posting mechanic parts and labor on job sheets and in central warehousing tasks.
• Coordinates receiving, storage, and disposal of obsolete, junked, or unserviceable property.
