Job summary

We Ship Express, a growing nationwide warehousing and logistics company, is hiring an Inventory Specialist for our St Charles, MO area warehouse. The role blends hands-on inventory control with administrative duties, supporting internal teams and customers to ensure accuracy and timely order fulfillment.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5 years in inventory control or warehouse roles, proficiency with WMS and Excel, and a focus on detail and safety.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of inventory control, warehouse, or supply chain experience.
• Experience in a warehouse environment (wine/CPG/logistics preferred).
• Proficiency with inventory/WMS systems and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
• A High School education or GED is required; associate degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records within WMS system.
• Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
• Monitor stock levels and support replenishment planning.
• Ensure proper product labeling, storage, and organization.
• Receive, inspect, and verify inbound shipments.
• Coordinate put-away, transfers, and order allocation.
• Support picking, packing, and shipping as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and operating procedures.
• Serve as a point of contact for customer inventory inquiries.
• Research and respond to inventory discrepancies, order issues, and adjustments.
• Communicate inventory status, availability, and exceptions to customers and internal teams.
• Partner with account management and operations to resolve issues quickly.
• Generate inventory reports and analysis (shrinkage, turns, aging, etc.).
• Maintain data integrity within inventory systems.
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements.
• Other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Monday through Friday - 5 AM to 1:30 PM
• Additional hours or occasional weekend work may be required during peak operational periods

What You'll Do

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting warehouse operations, and serving as a key point of contact for internal teams and customers regarding inventory-related inquiries. This role combines hands-on warehouse responsibilities with administrative and customer-facing duties to ensure inventory accuracy, timely order fulfillment, and high service levels.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Inventory Control & Accuracy

• Maintain accurate inventory records within WMS system
• Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand and walk throughout the shift
• Frequently required to use hands and finger dexterity

• Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and dollies

Pay and Benefits
