Job summary

Drexel Building Supply, Inc. is seeking an Inventory Specialist to safeguard inventory accuracy and optimize yard operations. You will perform cycle counts, supervise receiving and stock rotation, and ensure precise documentation and reporting across the yard and admin tasks.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, customer-focused, and willing to operate forklifts or move materials as needed to support daily deliveries and pickups.

Qualifications

• Oversee receiving, stock rotation, and correct customer deliveries.
• Manage storage space using min/max parameters and update Special Order/Negative On Hand reports.
• Process paperwork including invoices and reports with accuracy.

• Lead root-cause problem solving for discrepancies and onboard new teammates.

Serving as a primary safeguard of our inventory integrity, you bridge the gap between administrative accuracy and physical yard operations. You ensure real-time stock levels are 100% accurate, active, and available. Defining the Role:

• Inventory Auditing & Accuracy: Maintain real-time inventory accuracy by conducting regularly scheduled cycle counts and routine yard walks for special order items.
• Process Supervision: Oversee and enforce best practices in receiving, stock rotation, and loading correct amounts for customer deliveries and purchases.
• Data & System Maintenance: Manage storage spaces based on set min/max parameters, communicate product changes, and maintain clean Special Order (S.O.) and Negative on Hand reports.
• Administrative & Documentation: Meticulously process, comprehend, and fill out paperwork, including invoices and reports, utilizing strong computer and mathematical skills.
• Yard Operations & Material Handling: Assist customers with loading lumber and building materials into personal vehicles, convey materials using forklifts or dollies, and assist with deliveries (clean driving record required).
• Problem-Solving & Leadership: Drive creative, root-cause problem-solving for inventory discrepancies, foster a strong culture of accountability, and assist with onboarding and motivating new team members.

What Success Looks Like:

Performance is measured by your direct impact on yard velocity and inventory health:

• Inventory Accuracy Rate: The percentage of physical stock matching real-time system levels through cycle counts.
• Report Cleanliness: Resolution rate and cycle time for clearing Negative on Hand and Special Order (S.O.) discrepancy reports.
• Root-Cause Resolution: Reduction of recurring inventory errors and total line-item variance.
