Job description

This position involves receiving, storing, and managing inventory of merchandise in a retail bookstore environment. Responsibilities include verifying goods received against Purchase Orders (POs), assessing the quality of logos and condition of goods, and creating storage bins in warehouses. The role may also include inventory control tasks such as cycle counts, data entry, report generation, and reconciliation.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

Responsibilities:
  1. Verify merchandise quantity, condition, and quality against Purchase Orders.
  2. Receive orders, input data into inventory system, and store stock in the warehouse.
  3. Manage and ensure accuracy of warehouse inventory.
  4. Update the computer system with relevant information and notes regarding received merchandise.
  5. Make timely and accurate system updates.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Valid driver’s license with a positive point balance; ability to safely operate a large box truck with lift gate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret packing slips.
  • Accurately enter receipt information into the computer system.
  • Verify vendor item numbers and retail prices in the inventory system.
  • Operate computers and proprietary software efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word; Excel skills are a plus.
  • Proficient typing skills are a plus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Maintain a clean driving record; capable of driving and backing up a large box truck with lift gate.
  • Position involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.

This is primarily a sedentary role involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel for meetings and programs may be required.

Anticipated hourly wage: $15.00 - $18.00, commensurate with experience and education. This is a non-exempt, benefited position.
