Job summary

Thuma is seeking an Inventory Planner to design, operate, and improve our inventory forecasting and purchasing model. You will partner with the Product Development team on production scheduling and manage supplier onboarding for a growing catalog.

The role is hybrid, based in San Francisco, with 1–3 days in the office weekly. We value independent, proactive thinkers who can analyze drivers of demand and drive inventory optimization.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of inventory planning experience or similar planning experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and familiarity with software-based inventory planning solutions.
  • Self-starter who can work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of drivers affecting inventory planning and forecasting.
  • Desire to grow and take on more responsibility in a high-growth environment.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced setting with evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate Thuma's inventory and demand planning model.
  • Forecast inventory by SKU using historical trends, seasonality, and other factors.
  • Coordinate with Product Development on production scheduling and forecasting for new products.
  • Manage vendor relationships and onboarding of suppliers; track POs from placement to delivery.
  • Report on key metrics like weeks of supply, turnover, and stock levels.
  • Collaborate with Finance to optimize profitability and revenue targets.
  • Propose improvements to forecast accuracy and inventory optimization.
  • Support migration to a cloud-based inventory management tool.
  • Work cross-functionally on strategic initiatives like retail expansion and warehouse optimization.

Job description

Thuma is looking for an Inventory Planner to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Planning, this role will help design, operate and improve our inventory forecasting and purchasing model. We are looking for a candidate who has experience managing inventory purchased from a variety of vendors with varying complexities.

Thuma's Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. This is a hybrid role, and candidates should be available to come into our SF office 1 - 3 times a week.

You Will
  • Own and operate Thuma's inventory and demand planning model
  • Forecast inventory by SKU based on historical trends, seasonality impacts and other factors that impact inventory and demand
  • Partner with Thuma's Product Development team on production scheduling and forecasting for new products
  • Lead communication with key vendors and onboarding new suppliers for Thuma's growing product catalog, while tracking purchase orders from placement through delivery to the DC and monitoring receipt timing against launch and in-stock targets
  • Report on key performance metrics related to inventory - including weeks of supply on hand, turnover rate, minimum stock, etc.
  • Partner with finance to ensure target metrics are optimizing profitability and revenue
  • Propose new solutions to improve forecast accuracy and inventory optimization
  • Support the transition to a robust cloud-based inventory management tool
  • Work cross functionally on strategic initiatives, such as retail expansion, warehouse optimization, or category expansion projects.

$80,000 - $110,000 a year

Thuma provides an estimate of the compensation for roles that may be hired as required by state regulations.
