Job summary

City Utilities in Springfield, MO is hiring a Material Technician to receive, store, and issue materials, enter transactions, and manage the tool room at the power station.

You will handle hazardous and non-hazardous transformer oil, perform counts, ship supplies, and operate inventory systems with safety and regulatory compliance.

A high school diploma and 1 year of material handling experience are required; a Missouri CDL Class A is needed or obtainable within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 1 year material handling experience preferred.
• Hands-on use of an integrated inventory management system and warehouse duties.
• Valid Missouri CDL Class A with air brakes, or ability to obtain CLP and CDL within six months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain records of material transactions to ensure accurate inventory.
• Receive and inspect incoming materials per purchase orders.
• Communicate via email and phone as primary contact method.
• Organize inventory and maintain clean, safe stock areas.
• Prepare, issue, load and unload materials.
• Deliver materials to locations and job sites as required.
• Perform physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Clean spills of transformer oil per regulations; assist with disposal.
• Process transformers for reuse, repair, or disposal; manage sampling and shipment prep.
• Pack and ship hazardous materials per regulations.
• Maintain fuel dispensing equipment and underground tanks.
• Operate power station tool room; ensure safety rules.
• Comply with company policies and safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
