• Department: Department of Veterans Affairs

This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned area(s).

Key Responsibilities

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** These positions involve a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-9. At the GS-7 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-9.

Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Lifecycle Management: Conduct short, mid, and long-term advanced planning for new and replacement non-expendable assets; Analyzes data to include projected lifecycle, down time, repair rates, cost, and other factors which impact procurement decisions Develops and supports the creation of acquisition strategies and standardization initiatives to acquire and purchase high-tech, high-cost medical devices, surgical equipment devices, and major classes of materials; Displays familiarity with contracting laws and regulations Inventory Management and Control: Responsible for the management and control of an assigned class of expendable material; Serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; Conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; Conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization: Implements federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; Coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies; Makes emergent procurement decisions; and participates in root cause analysis processes.
