Job Summary

As a Smart Shop Exempt Department Manager, you'll oversee operations such as perishables, center store, inventory flow, receiving, and shelf edge, focusing on your area of expertise (e.g., produce, market, front end).

Key Responsibilities

• Make employment and business decisions using independent judgment, including hiring, promoting, disciplining, and resolving partner-related issues.
• Manage staffing, training, and performance for your area.
• Analyze financial and performance reports, identifying opportunities and issues.
• Conduct audits and store/department walks.
• Maintain work instructions and monitor inventory and DSD accounting.
• Lead inventory flow team to maximize productivity.
• Create weekly schedules aligning with business needs.
• Order products and ensure quality control.
• Coordinate with store leadership for overall store plans.
• Support total store initiatives and maintain safety and sanitation standards.

Additional Department Focus

• Inventory Flow: Manage center store inventory, receiving, shelf edge, and merchandising plans.
• Front End: Oversee operations, ensure customer service, and manage team efficiency.
• Market: Oversee meat operations, food safety, and specialty meat knowledge.
• Produce/Bakery: Manage production, merchandising, and safety compliance.
• Total Store: Maintain store cleanliness, safety, supplies, and recovery teams.

Qualifications

• Completion of H-E-B or JVSS Management Training Program.
• Operational/retail management experience with leadership in complex environments.
• Understanding of retail accounting, inventory, and shrink control.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.
• Flexible schedule, including nights.

Training Required

• Successful completion of JVSS or H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM).

Physical & Environmental Conditions
