NaphCare, Inc. is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Tucson, AZ, where we manage healthcare for inmates in the Arizona Department of Corrections – Tucson facility. Full Time and Part Time positions may be available.

You will assist licensed pharmacists to provide medications and healthcare products to residents, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Current Pharmacy Technician certificate/license in State.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification preferred.
• Purchasing knowledge with admin training preferred.
• Brand-to-generic knowledge common in pharmacy.
• Active BLS CPR certification required.
• Attention to confidentiality and patient safety.
• Integrity and professionalism; comply with conduct policies.
• Ability to obtain security clearance (drug screen and background).

Responsibilities

Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our team of medical professionals in Tucson, AZ, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Arizona Department of Corrections - Tucson.

Full Time and Part Time positions may be available!

As a Correctional Pharmacy Technician, you will assist the licensed pharmacists in providing medications and other healthcare products to in residence ensuring work is performed in compliance to standards and adherence to regulations. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician assists in preparing medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring proper documentation, often with heightened security measures and reporting requirements due to the correctional setting. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

• Preparing and dispensing prescription medications to inmates, often requiring careful attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols.
• Managing medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing medications, ensuring proper storage conditions and security.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of medication dispensed, patient information, and inventory levels.
• Communicating with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding medication orders, patient needs, and potential issues.
• Adhering to strict security protocols to prevent unauthorized access to medications and maintain a secure environment.
• Providing basic medication information and instructions to patients, ensuring they understand how to take their medications properly.
• Participating in quality assurance activities to ensure accurate medication dispensing and adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

• Current Pharmacy Technician certificate/license in State
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is preferred
• Progressive administrative/management training in a pharmacy role with purchasing knowledge preferred
• General knowledge of brand to generic pharmaceutical equivalents
• Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
• Attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to patient safety
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
