Job summary

Mill Creek Lumber & Supply Co is seeking an Inventory Clerk to maintain stock levels, place purchase orders, and partner with vendors. The role includes managing the inventory system, assisting with audits, and supporting purchasing and pricing processes.

Responsibilities include physical inventory checks, process improvements, and forklift operation when needed. A high school diploma and inventory systems experience are required, with forklift certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong numerical and basic math skills.

Job description

Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items.Places special orders and ensures pricing is accurate.Places purchase orders from vendors to balance projected needs with special buy opportunities and future promotions utilizing on-time delivery methods.Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies.Partners with marketing, pricing, and accounts payable departments to resolve system and/or invoice cost discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action with vendor to resolve.Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager.Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.Provides sales and informational assistance on products and freight to staff and customers.Returns defective merchandise and ensures proper and timely credit is received from vendor.Provides guidance and training to less experienced co-workers.Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.Operates forklift when necessary.Performs other related duties as requested.Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.Proficient keyboarding skills.Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.Ability to perform basic math calculations.High school diploma or equivalent required.Three (3) years of experience with computerized inventory systems required.Forklift operator certification preferred but not required.
