Job summary

Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is seeking an Inventory Controller to coordinate the movement of inventory and maintain a clean, efficient warehouse on the Tulsa South/Broken Arrow site.

This full-time role offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities to optimize stock levels, partner with vendors, and support operations across purchasing, pricing, and logistics.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication with warehouse staff, purchasing, and vendors.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience with computerized inventory systems required.
  • Forklift operator certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages special inventory reporting.
  • Maintains stock consistent with pre-authorized limits as inventory dwindles.
  • Establishes backup sources for high-demand items.
  • Identify opportunities for sales of slower moving products.
  • Places special orders and ensures pricing is accurate.
  • Places purchase orders to balance projected needs with promotions.
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns for automatic deliveries.
  • Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinates with marketing, pricing, and accounts payable to resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Develops and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Maintains daily records of goods received and shipments made.
  • Manages inventory system and upgrades to related software.
  • Conducts regular spot and full audits of physical inventory.
  • Provides sales and information on products and freight to staff and customers.
  • Returns defective merchandise and ensures credits from vendors.
  • Guides and trains less experienced coworkers.
  • Assists with annual physical inventory audits.
  • Operates forklift when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Inventory Controller to join our team. As an Inventory Controller at Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the efficient movement of our inventory and ensure a clean and streamlined warehouse.

Responsibilities
  • Manages special inventory reporting.
  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
  • Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items.
  • Identify opportunities for sales of slower moving products.
  • Places special orders and ensures pricing is accurate.
  • Places purchase orders from vendors to balance projected needs with special buy opportunities and future promotions utilizing on-time delivery methods.
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies.
  • Partners with marketing, pricing, inventory control, and accounts payable departments to resolve system and/or invoice cost discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action with vendor to resolve.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager.
  • Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Provides sales and informational assistance on products and freight to staff and customers.
  • Returns defective merchandise and ensures proper and timely credit is received from vendor.
  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced co-workers.
  • Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
  • Operates forklift when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.
