Job summary

Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to coordinate the movement of inventory and maintain warehouse accuracy. You will manage stock levels, place orders, and drive cycle counts while ensuring proper vendor communication and timely credits for discrepancies.

The role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency with inventory systems, and forklift awareness. A high school diploma is required, with at least three years of relevant experience.

  • Conducts regular spot and cycle counts of warehouse inventory.
  • Coordinates with purchasing, pricing, and accounts payable to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assists with audits and provides training to less experienced staff.

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Inventory Controller to join our team. As an Inventory Controller at Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the efficient movement of our inventory and ensure a clean and streamlined warehouse.Responsibilities:Manages special inventory reporting.Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items.Identify opportunities for sales of slower moving products.Places special orders and ensures pricing is accurate.Places purchase orders from vendors to balance projected needs with special buy opportunities and future promotions utilizing on-time delivery methods.Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies.Partners with marketing, pricing, inventory control, and accounts payable departments to resolve system and/or invoice cost discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action with vendor to resolve.Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager.Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.Provides sales and informational assistance on products and freight to staff and customers.Returns defective merchandise and ensures proper and timely credit is received from vendor.Provides guidance and training to less experienced co-workers.Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.Operates forklift when necessary.Performs other related duties as requested.Requirements:Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.Proficient keyboarding skills.Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.Ability to perform basic math calculations.High school diploma or equivalent required.Three (3) years of experience with computerized inventory systems required.Forklift operator certification preferred but not required.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience and qualificationsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plansRetirement savings plan with company matchingPaid time off and vacation policyEmployee discount program on lumber and building suppliesProfessional development opportunities and training programsCompany-sponsored events and team-building activitiesSafe and supportive work environmentOpportunity for growth and advancement within the companyIf you are a detail-oriented professional with the requirements outlined above, we encourage you to APPLY TODAY!Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
