Job summary

Viking Drill & Tool, INC. is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Supervisor for 1st shift to manage raw materials, production parts, machine parts, and tooling inventory.

You will lead a team, ensure accurate records, and partner with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and quality to keep materials available. Qualifications

  • Experience managing inventory across raw materials, parts and tooling.
  • Proven ability to supervise and train inventory staff.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in manufacturing.
  • Ability to coordinate with maintenance, engineering, purchasing and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory of materials, parts, tooling, and supplies.
  • Supervise day-to-day directions to inventory and material-handling staff.
  • Train employees in inventory procedures, organization, and documentation.
  • Maintain organized inventory storage areas and accurate records.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, issued, counted, and replenished.
  • Set and monitor minimum/maximum levels for critical items.
  • Perform cycle counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality.
  • Improve inventory systems, processes, and overall efficiency.
  • Help prevent downtime due to unavailable parts.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to manage inventory of raw materials, production parts, machine parts, maintenance parts, tooling, and supplies. This position requires someone who is organized, dependable, hands‑on, accountable, and comfortable leading people while working alongside them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, production parts, machine parts, maintenance parts, tooling, and supplies.
  • Supervise and provide day‑to‑day directions to inventory and material‑handling employees.
  • Train employees in inventory procedures, organization, material handling, and proper documentation.
  • Maintain organized and clearly identified inventory and storage areas.
  • Ensure materials and parts are properly received, stored, issued, counted, and replenished.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate minimum/maximum inventory levels for critical parts and supplies.
  • Perform and oversee cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure materials and parts are available when needed.
  • Improve inventory systems, processes, layout, labeling, and overall efficiency.
  • Help prevent machine downtime caused by unavailable maintenance or replacement parts.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in inventory control, manufacturing, materials management, maintenance parts, or related field.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to train, lead, and hold employees accountable.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory or ERP/MRP software preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Must be a self‑starter who can identify problems and take action without constant direction.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands
  • Visual acuity includes close vision, depth perception, and color vision
  • Must successfully complete a post‑offer physical assessment
  • Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen
