Position Summary: Manages the total inventory control process and function. Ensures current and accurate inventories for all items. Utilizes best practices, systems, and established processes to coordinate, manage, and support activities related to inventory, spoilage, liquidation and overall slot management for assigned division.
Manages the maintenance and updating of inventory records and ensures the performance of all daily activities necessary to maintain effective and accurate inventory management procedures. Creates and implements efficient and accurate inventory policies and procedures. Maintains accurate inventory records to help facilitate shortage detection. Develops and implements all necessary reports and documentation required to support accurate inventory counts including records of all audits, counts and adjustments. Evaluates cycle counts and makes system adjustments as necessary. Reconciles inventories to make necessary adjustments. Coordinate the monthly physical inventory procedures and assume responsibility for physical inventories. Communicates timing of physical inventories to relevant personnel and establishes cut-off dates. Help develop the implementation of the inventory loss prevention programs. Ensures all warehouse personnel are familiar with proper procedures. Plans and implements a program so all damaged, defective, and returned product is accounted for and properly handled by dumping, salvaging or returning to stock. Conducts as necessary searches to locate products within the system. Researches and looks for the root cause of discrepancies in inventories. Adjusts records to reflect any discrepancies between actual product and inventory. Directs appropriate action regarding products not in saleable condition. Assumes responsibility for shrinkage including cycle counts, product damage, receiving adjustments, vendor issues and expired merchandise. Manages receiving and product rotation procedures and processes. Interviews, trains, and coaches employees to achieve excellence. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and partnering with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them. Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization. Performs other duties as assigned.
Written, verbal, organizational and communication skills and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative. Ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment. Mathematical knowledge to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications.
