About the Role

Our client, a prominent retailer known for its diverse product range, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control & Stockroom Manager to oversee operations in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is vital for maintaining accurate inventory records, optimizing stockroom organization, and ensuring efficient stock movement to support sales operations. You will be responsible for implementing robust inventory management systems and processes to minimize discrepancies and reduce shrinkage. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a meticulous approach to detail, and experience managing stockroom operations in a retail setting in Upington . This position is key to ensuring product availability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the accuracy of inventory records using the company's inventory management system.
• Oversee the organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of the stockroom and receiving areas.
• Implement and enforce stock control procedures, including cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly and accurately.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with purchasing and sales teams to ensure adequate stock availability and prevent overstocking or stockouts.
• Manage the receiving, unpacking, and processing of incoming inventory shipments.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures related to inventory management and stock handling.
• Train and supervise stockroom staff, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
• Implement measures to prevent stock damage, loss, or theft.
• Analyze inventory data to identify trends and provide reports on stock levels, movement, and discrepancies.

Requirements

• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in inventory control, stock management, or a related role within a retail environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles, stocktaking procedures, and stockroom organization.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software and POS systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Good organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
• Physical ability to lift and move stock as required and work in a stockroom environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Upington, Northern Cape .
• Experience with retail operations is a plus.
