Job summary

Shearer Companies is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to support Account Logistics Coordinators and clerks, ensuring inventory accuracy and proper equipment accountability. Depending on location, duties may include cleaning and quarantining devices for repairs.

The role involves cycle counts, QR scans, and data entry in IMS, with responsibilities spanning receiving, stocking, and shipping duties as well as HS level compliance and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum six months experience in a manufacturing environment; one year in inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily inventory transactions to ensure items are in correct location and available to allocate; manage consumable inventory.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist variance investigations; attach items to orders in IMS to correct errors.
  • Assist customers with routine questions about inventory and report escalations of unreturned products.
  • Assist ALCs and Logistics Clerks to correct errors in attaching items to orders in IMS.
  • Perform daily Receipt FedEx scans in Dock Processing Utility (DPU).
  • Audit inventory scans and check sheets for accuracy; request corrections/updates.
  • Complete kit swaps by updating serial swaps in kits and in PDOJ.
  • Receive new equipment and replenish stock; allocate new serials to kits.
  • Enter Disposition issues onto Disposition Log and capture action details.
  • Enter issues into IMS for damaged/missing items; handle QC forms in PDOJ.
  • Read orders to determine items to move, gather, distribute or ship.
  • Handle hazardous and recycled waste materials.
  • Mark materials with identifying information and move items between areas.
  • Provide additional Operations, Production & Shipping support as needed.
  • Ensure replacement of disposable items before shipment of demo equipment.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area following regulations.

Job description

General Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist provides support to Account Logistics Coordinators (ALCs), Logistics Clerks and clients to ensure that inventory is correct and that equipment is accounted for and functioning correctly. Depending on location, this position may be responsible for ensuring that equipment and devices are cleaned properly and quarantined for repairs as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties vary depending on location



  • Monitors daily inventory transactions to ensure that inventory is showing in the correct location and available to allocate; manages consumable inventory.

  • Performs cycle counts and assists personnel with inventory variance investigations; corrects or assists other personnel with correcting errors by attaching items to orders in the Inventory Management System (IMS).

  • Assists customers with routine questions about inventory; reports escalations of unreturned products to customers.

  • Assists ALCs and Logistics Clerks to correct errors in attaching items to orders in the IMS.

  • Performs daily Receipt FedEx scans in Dock Processing Utility (DPU).

  • Audits inventory scans and check sheets for accuracy; requests corrections and/or updates from appropriate personnel.

  • Completes kit swaps by manually updating the serial swaps in the kits and updating the status of serials in Part Data Owner's Journal (PDOJ).

  • Receives in new equipment and replenishment stock; allocates new serials to kits.

  • Enters Disposition issues onto Disposition Log on an as needed basis, obtain information from LC and customer regarding items entered and action items based on response. Notate what action was taken for each item on Disposition Log.

  • Enters issues into IMS for failed, damaged and missing items; returns failed or damaged items back to customer; uploads Quality Control (QC) Reject Form to PDOJ in IMS.

  • Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders and/or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and/or shipped.

  • Handles hazardous and recycled waste materials.

  • Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate methods.

  • Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.

  • Provides additional Operations, Production & Shipping support as needed.

  • Ensures replacement of disposable items prior to the shipment of demo equipment.

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations.

  • Performs other tasks/projects as requested by management.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • None.


Qualifications:


  • Ability to acquire TSA certification (where required).

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail; excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize; self-motivated.

  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure timely responses and completion of tasks/projects; ability to tolerate periods of stress and adhere to deadlines.

  • Familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database.

  • Depending on location, must be able to fill out Bills of Lading (BOL) and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.

  • Depending on location, must be capable of estimating weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.

  • Depending on location, must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.


Education and/or Experience:


  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a business, logistics or related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum of one (1) year experience in inventory control.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, to all levels.


Computer Skills:


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook; proficiency with Access a plus strongly desired depending on location; extensive knowledge of Excel, including functions and pivot tables preferred depending on location.

  • Ability to quickly learn new programs/software; experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable.


Physical Demands:


  • Sitting two (2) or more hours or more per day; standing and/or walking eight (8) hours or more per day.

  • Four (4) or more hours per day doing computer work.

  • Ability to bend, reach and stoop.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Noise level can be moderate due to multiple conversations in close proximity.

  • Appropriate safety gear must be worn as needed.


Work Environment:


  • Warehouse environment with occasional office environment.


Travel Requirements:


  • Occasional travel as needed.
